Liz - Veterinary Assistant

${name}

Liz has wanted to be friends with anything on four legs (or more) for as long as she can remember.

Her fondest memories take place outside, searching for cicadas, salamanders, and other creepy crawlies in the backyard (and unsettling her parents with these discoveries). Indoors, she explored her creativity through an endless slew of drawings and craft projects, a pursuit that persists today. It wasn’t until she turned 18 and adopted her anxious beagle, Shiloh, that she developed an affinity for canines. The two of them were fast friends and joined her at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. He could frequently be found sniffing around the art studios on campus while she worked. Outside of drawing and painting, she found great joy in volunteering at the local animal shelter. After graduating, she followed this path and found work as an animal care technician at a dog and cat rescue. Helping fearful animals find their confidence around people was the highlight of her days.

Liz spent a couple of years assistant teaching at an elementary school but ultimately decided she preferred furry charges. Seeking a change in both career and habitat, she set her sights on vet med in Colorado. Joined by her beloved partner of three years (Sam the Scientist) and Shiloh, she embarked on a road trip across the country. They eventually settled in Denver, and she joined the GT team as a veterinary assistant in October of 2023. Liz sees every shift as an opportunity to grow and learn and is especially interested in animal behavior and fear-free practice. While working at Gentle Touch, Liz pursues an interest in set design and works with Denver area theaters as a prop designer. She is excited to grow in both occupations and deeply values the support and passion she is surrounded by at Gentle Touch.
