Nutrition for Cats

Cats are strict carnivores and require high quality proteins, fatty acids and vitamins in their diet.  The nutrients must also be highly digestible.  There are some nutrients that cats are unable to produce within their bodies, therefore, a high quality diet is extremely important.  The American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) tests many diets to ensure proper nutrient balance.  Always look for the AAFCO sign when evaluating cat foods.  If a cat is fed a quality diet, no other supplements (canned food, vitamins, etc) are required.  Proper nutrition can help prevent obesity problems and other health concerns.
