Intestinal Parasites
There are several intestinal parasites that can cause minor disease in dogs and cats, however, many of these parasites cause disease (often severe) in humans. For that reason, annual intestinal parasite examinations (fecal testing) are performed, and medications recommended as needed. Many of the current heartworm prevention medications also protect dogs from some of these contagious intestinal parasites.
