Ear Infections
Ear infections can be common in dogs and cats. They tend to be more common if there is an underlying cause such as: allergies, foreign body, trauma, ear mites, hypothyroidism, exposure to water (bathing and grooming), hair in the ear canals, and droopy ears. Signs of ear infections include scratching at the ears, shaking the ears, rubbing the ears or face on the ground, and sensitivity around the ears and head. Oftentimes, a foul odor or abnormal discharge is detected. Most ear infections are caused by yeast and bacteria, and can be treated with the proper medications.
